Facebook has 171 million members that personal information is open to read in public this does not include the invisible profile information, that's more or less 50 million Facebook subscribers. Facebook users put their personal information in their trust that their information is secure. The report said all public information can now be available in google and bing search. According to Mr. Ron Bowe responsible for exposing public information he collected all of the names using the script. He compiled all the list altogether and made it available online as a downloadable torrent. All files are now made available using search engines. There was a question asked if how many have downloaded the torrent,
The Pirate Bay lists 2923 seeds and 9473 leechers for the torrent file at the time of this writing. Seeds are people who have downloaded the entire file and are uploading it to others. Leechers are actively downloading the file.
This is big deal on our part putting ourselves at risk hackers are just waiting. They're waiting for the right time to get all our personal information. Now that they're exposing the more we become vulnerable for any untoward events.
I guess in this kind of information we are aware to avoid giving all personal information to any social sites. It's hard to trust them anyway. Networking sites asking you to fill up your personal information has also the plan of making money out of it. Take a look at what Facebook did. They knew they are a phenomenon site almost everyone has a Facebook account that way they tend to make a lot of money on our behalf- exposing our personal information on search engines. Isn't this an insult? Where is our right to privacy?
If you want to keep your information private there are two options you can either delete it or make false information or remain private. To do that go to Account at the upper right side of your dashboard click privacy settings go to Basic Directory Information click view settings and choose which one you want to be exposed. That is your prerogative and concern.
