Celebrating Holidays With Friends

Ever since, I used to celebrate holidays mostly alone. If friends or co-workers were inviting me, I might go. When I am alone, I celebrate- music played with high volume, little preparation enough for myself. I am contented being alone, but there are times when I remember back to how we celebrate holidays. It hits me that I felt the difference being away with family during special occasions. A celebration, like a holiday, is a family day- the ambience and the atmosphere that surround you makes you happy from every angle, maybe because you know all the people – friends, relatives, and even neighbours can invite you for a short dinner or snacks.

Being alone on the holidays can only have a temporary feeling of emptiness. After midnight, it is back to normal.

When I am alone during holidays, I watch movies or listen to music, anything that keeps me busy. It is my way to avoid loneliness and feeling empty.

At this time, being away from the family can’t feel anymore because of the technology that helps the family to connect—just a click of your device, and you can see them and talk, unlike before it took a while before you could reach them.

At Christmas time I celebrate alone at home. Because of the pandemic, neighbours were celebrating inside their houses. I played my favourite Christmas songs and other disco music, dance, and dance. I had fruit salad and sliced bread. It was enough for me. I watched movies or shows on YouTube to avoid boredom while waiting the midnight. And I celebrate my Christmas happy

A friend and former co-worker invited me to celebrate New Year with them. The celebration was good. I had fun. And a lot of food, salad, cake, and anything. I ate a lot and got bloated, hehe.
